Why isn’t Somaliland recognized? #shorts #maps #geopolitics #politics #somalia #somaliland

Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 and declared itself independent, since then it has been a functioning and relatively safe democracy, which cannot be said about Somalia. In addition, Somaliland has its own currency, army, visa, Police, license plate, and even a consulate in Washington. Furthermore, it has all the necessary qualifications for Statehood, a defined Territory, a permanent population, and a Government. Despite all this, it is not recognized by any country in the world, but why? Well, the first step for any country in Africa that wants to be independent is to be recognized by the African Union, which will not do so without the consent of Somalia and Somalia is neither willing nor able to give its support to Somaliland.
