White policeman sacked after shooting dead black suspect in Atlanta – BBC News

A white policeman has been sacked after shooting dead a black man, Rayshard Brooks, in the US city of Atlanta.

It follows a night of unrest following the shooting, which took place as Mr Brooks was running away from officers trying to arrest him. The city’s chief of police has resigned.

Atlanta is one of many US cities to have seen protests since the killing last month of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. And around the world, thousands of people have joined marches against racism.
