WGN People to People – Award Winning Documentary Highlights the Need for Black History in Schools



August 6, 2022 – Vanessa Wright, producer and director of “Sankofa Chicago” says the lack of accurate American History in U.S. schools adversely effects everyone, but has a particular impact on Black students and the Black community. After winning the award for “Best Educational Film” at the Cannes Film Festival, the documentary is now the lead piece in a series of films on the topic.
