Teaching AP African American Studies at Boston Public Schools

BPS Educator of the Year Tanisha Milton invites us into her AP African American Studies class at TechBoston Academy, where her students are learning about Black history from a groundbreaking lens—one that honors unsung heroes, challenges typical narratives, and encourages students to connect with the legacies of their past. Starting this academic year, AP African American Studies is being taught at 10 Boston Public Schools across the city. We are deeply grateful for all of our educators and students who are making this important college-level class possible and helping to teach such vitally important history.
