Talking North West politics with Prof. Andre Duvenhage

It appears that the political situation within the ANC in North West Provinces is growing more complicated tonight. The former Premier of the Province Supra Mahumapelo yesterday won a court ruling which would reinstate his provincial executive committee to run the ANC in the province almost immediately. That ruling would enforce an earlier decision that the ANC’s national executive committee broke the party’s own constitution by disbanding Mahumapelo’s PEC – and instituting a provincial task team. The SABC understand that there have been more meetings today involving Luthuli House and Mahumapelo. It also appears that the national ANC wants to appeal these rulings and reinstate its task team. Professor Andre Duvenhage is a political analyst from the University of North West.
