Russian Navy Practises Artillery Fire On Sea Drones As Ukraine Attacks Black Sea Fleet And Crimea
Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has destroyed a Ukrainian sea drone southwest of Sevastopol, Russia’s Defence Ministry said. Moscow said that the Ukrainian marine drone was attempting to attack two Black Sea fleet warships on Aug. 17. The Ukrainian surface vessel was destroyed by fire from standard weapons mounted on the two ships, Moscow said. The attack comes as Russia prepares its naval forces to take on Ukraine’s sea drones in the Black Sea. The Baltic Fleet’s strike group has held an exercise involving artillery fire at air targets, sea drones and ships, according to TASS. The ships’ gunners practised the tasks of jointly repelling attacks of small-size targets imitating marine drones, as per TASS. Russia is seeing an uptick in Ukrainian sea drone attacks near its Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol, Crimea.
