Professor discusses Black entrepreneurship and capitalism from 1619 until 2021



Juliet E. K. Walker is a professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is also the founding director of the Center of Black Business History, Entrepreneurship, and Technology. Her scholarship has provided the foundation for recognizing Black business history as a subfield in African American history. In this talk, she covers Black business, entrepreneurship, and their relationship to capitalism from the period of 1619 to the present day. She also discusses what the lessons of history mean for Black businesses in today’s world.
