Preserving Black History: The Legacy and Future of Rose Library’s African American Collections

Welcome to “Preserving Black History in the Archives: The Legacy and Future of Rose Library’s African American Collections” on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. At this online-only event, we’re introducing the new Rose Library curator of African American collections, Emory alum Dr. Clint Fluker, and an esteemed panel of guest speakers will discuss the significance of Black History Month and the legacy and future of the Rose Library collections, especially as they pertain to use by students and the community.

Speakers will include Dr. Fluker; Dr. Valerie Babb, Mellon Professor of Humanities in African American Studies and English; Dr. Carol Henderson, Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer; and poet Christell Roach, a 2019 graduate of Emory University. Atlanta Business Chronicle broadcast editor Crystal Edmonson, an Emory alumna and Emory Board of Trustees member, will moderate the conversation.

Co-sponsored by the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library; Arts at Emory; Emory Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Emory Black Student Alliance; the Emory departments of African American Studies, English and Music (Orchestral Studies); BronzeLens Film Festival, and AJC Decatur Book Festival, presented by Emory University.
