Last week, a coup took place in the West African nation of Niger. Some people took to the streets in support of the coup. They stormed the French embassy in the capital, Niamey. The coup supporters blame France for the troubles in the country. Some of them were carrying Russian flags as they attacked the French embassy.

Neighbouring nations that have seen coups in recent years have all become closer to Moscow. Mali even employs the Wagner mercenary group. Is West Africa becoming the new battleground between Russia and the West? Palki Sharma tells you more.
