‘Mr. Soul!’ Filmmakers Discuss Iconic Black Culture
Before Oprah and Arsenio Hall were on television, there was “Soul!”
From 1968 to 1973, “Soul!” was a public television series offering a celebration of Black culture, which was light years ahead of its time. Now there is a documentary called “Mr. Soul!” about the groundbreaking show on HBO, which premiered on Aug. 22.
Legendary actor Blair Underwood, who is an executive producer for the documentary, director Melissa Haizlip and executive producer Ron Gillyard, join Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to talk about the documentary.
