The Central Government has made it clear that there is no proposal to abolish the Ministry of Minority Affairs. He has termed the reports in this regard as baseless. This ministry was formed in 2006 under the UPA government. Some media reports claimed that the Union government may scrap the Ministry of Minority Affairs and merge it with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The government has called it fake.
