A Black man shouted “I’m fading, I’m going to die. Stand me up now” while being handcuffed by police, before dying a few hours later from a heart and asthma attack, dehydration and stress. Ian McDonald-Taylor, a severe asthmatic, was arrested after getting into a fight in Brixton and handcuffed as he lay on the pavement breathing heavily, at 5.55pm on June 29, one of the hottest days of the year in 2019.
