‘Here to slay a dragon’: Douglas Murray on his viral South Africa interview

Author Douglas Murray says he discovered that during his interview with Eyewitness News on a recent trip to South Africa, the anchor was “here to slay a dragon”.

During a recent visit to South Africa, Mr Murray spoke with Eyewitness News anchor Jane Dutton to challenge accusations of Israeli genocide in Gaza and South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Criminal Court.

When Mr Murray asked for clarification on who supposedly occupies Gaza, Ms Dutton responded by stating it was Israel, aided by the US, who had sealed off the border.

Mr Murray then countered that Gaza also borders Egypt, which she failed to mention.

“You tend to go into an interview like that … sort of with goodwill, assuming the interviewer’s hoping to get something interesting out of you,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“Occasionally, you go in and discover this person is here to slay a dragon, and the whole thing changes.”
