Harold W. Finch, II – MNPS Black Excellence



“My most memorable moments as a student in Metro Nashville Public Schools involved the care and concern shown daily toward me by my teachers in middle and high school,” Harold W. Finch II says. “I thank all of those MNPS employees who sowed and cultivated seeds of success in my life. I am forever indebted to them.”

Harold W. Finch II is a Nashville native who graduated from McGavock High School with honors before earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and a Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College.

He is now completing doctoral work at Trevecca Nazarene University in education with a concentration in health care administration.

Finch now serves as the Director of Workplace Safety and Training for MNPS, managing the following employee programs of the Human Resources Division: Employee Safety and Health; Injury on Duty (IOD); Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and Employee Leaves.

He joined the district in 2003 as a chemistry and physical science teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet High School.

In 2004, Finch managed the health and mental health program for Davidson County’s Head Start program at Metro Action Commission. He returned to MNPS in 2006 to oversee the Workplace Safety and Training Office.
