Glen Ford on black voters and US politics
On Feb. 4, the group Socialist Action held a forum on the US presidential elections. Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report was the most interesting speaker there. Here is a recording of his speech. His main message was that while Bernie Sanders’ program more closely matches the views of most black voters, they will vote in the main for Hillary Clinton. Ford related this to his view that most black voters support the Democratic Party – which he calls “the rich man’s party”, just like the Republicans – because the Democrats are seen as the protector against “the the man’s party” – the Republicans.
Ford sees no way forward through the Democrats. But the issue of the day still is: How can an alternative develop?
