Foreign Press Center Briefing on "Understanding America: Resiliency in Black Business Communities."
Washington Foreign Press Center Briefing, February 19, 2021.
“Understanding America: Resiliency in Black Business Communities.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic having a disproportional effect on Black-owned businesses, several U.S. cities have developed resiliency funds to support the black business community. One example is the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce, which launched a $1Million resiliency fund for small black enterprises. Oakland Chamber CEO and President Cathy Adams, and two business leader recipients of the fund, will discuss how they are re-building and supporting an equitable recovery, the difficulties business owners have faced during the pandemic, and the need for these types of funds.
