Child Abuse Is Problematic in the Black Community

Black children are dying at an alarming rate as a result of child abuse.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, in 2019, Black children accounted for 13% of reported child abuse cases in the United States. Even more disturbing is that Black children accounted for 29% of the fatalities related to child abuse.

Children’s rights advocates have identified the abuse of children in Black communities as a byproduct of the normalization of abuse experienced by Black people as a whole.

Psychologist Dr. Norman Fried joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss the abuse Black children take.

All this and more on “Prime.”
