Censorship in Roald Dahl books considered ‘cultural vandalism’: Piers Morgan

Puffin’s decision to censor phrases and words within Roald Dahl books has been reviled on all sides as “cultural vandalism,” says Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

The changes include swapping Cloud Men to Cloud People in ‘James and the Giant Peach’, a line describing tractors as black in ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ has been deleted, and the removal of the word fat as an adjective for characters in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.

He says the changes are an attempt to “re-write history” in a way that does the publication a disservice.

“It’s insidious the way that these ‘wokies’ are gradually airbrushing the world and re-drawing it in their own image, with their own world view.”
