Black Woman SHOT, Deputies Mistake Her For Burglar, Fire 40 Rounds | Roland Martin
A Texas woman is waiting for the Harris County deputies who fired nearly 40 shots, hitting her five times, to be held accountable for almost taking her life.
On February 3, Eboni Pouncy was at a friend’s apartment when police mistook her for an intruder and shot her through an apartment window.
Reports say the deputies were investigating an alleged break-in when they saw “the front window screen removed, broken glass and the blinds raised, near the front door.”
Eboni heard the commotion and grabbed her gun.
Eboni sustained a total of five gunshot wounds to the leg and torso. Miraculously, none of her vital organs were struck by bullets. The doctors say the long-term effects of her injuries are yet to be determined.
Eboni says her life is changed forever.
Her attorney, Ben Crump, says the incident is “evidence of the unnecessary and excessive force.”
Both deputies are on administrative leave.
