Black News Network DELOR CAKERY JOANN'S MINORITY GRANT WINNER
Thank you Black News Network for this awesome interview. Last year, I won Joann’s Creative Minority Grant along with 20 other women of color.
Joann Stores is creating a $100,000 Minority Creative Grant program, with people being able to apply online starting Saturday.
The program will provide $5,000 grants to 20 Black entrepreneurs and small business owners “to continue creating, inspiring, and finding their creative Happy Place,” the Hudson, Ohio-based craft and fabric retailer said in a news release Thursday.
The grants are intended to support the underrepresented Black craft and sewing community, the company said.
The 20 winners will get $5,000 each in merchandise credit, plus special offers, learning opportunities, and the chance to become a paid instructor on Creativebug, Joann’s digital learning platform.
Winners will be featured in marketing and social media channels to raise their visibility and gain additional support for their work, the company said.
Submission details will be available starting Saturday at joann.com/minority-creative-grants/.
