Black-owned businesses are a backbone of the City’s economy and play a significant role in Black culture and community building. In partnership with the Weeksville Heritage Center and Public Artist in Residence Andre D. Wagner, we’re sharing businessowners’ stories of resilience.

In the last 15 years, Chef Cheryl Smith of Cheryl’s Global Soul has been serving world flavors with local ingredients designed to feed the soul. Her goal is to make everyone who eats there feel good, but being a Black business owner hasn’t always been easy. This is her story.
