Black Britain and Beyond: Day ONE: The Black British Wealth Creation: Mind the Gap
The creation of Black British wealth is vital from an economic and moral standpoint for everyone. The volatile impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy further highlighted the importance of creating a resilient pathway to economic independence in our personal lives. A key hindrance in developing Black wealth is disparities in access to capital. Focusing on small and medium sized enterprises, the UK could see a £25.2 billion increase in GDP if this gap is closed. Undertaking an intensive analysis and research through the lens of access to capital, opportunity and information is critical to determine what measures and outcomes are essential towards Black British wealth creation.
A team of Black Britons, in the financial industry, have developed a comprehensive study to explore and tackle the issue of Black British wealth through the lens of access to capital, opportunity and information. The session will be chaired by
The Black British Wealth Creation Report:
Over the several months a team of likeminded Black Britons convened to discuss Black British wealth. The group of experts consist of academics, analyst, bankers, financiers, investors, and students-scholars amongst others to analyse, research and study access to capital, opportunity and information. A final comprehensive Black British Wealth Creation Report (The Report) has been completed. The Report is instructive, providing organisations across sectors with actionable recommendations that will help them to make impactful changes. Black wealth is important from both a moral and an economic standpoint, and people must recognise this. The Report summarise the recommendations, with the main aim being that future generations of Black Britons will be able to prosper even further. The Report will be made available via a downloadable link at the BBB and more broadly afterwards.
