Black and cute: from hairstyles to black identity | African-Australian culture | ABC Australia



A year ago, a high school teacher in the Western Australian mining town of Kalgoorlie noticed young African-Australian women were struggling with their hair so she decided to start a group to teach African hair styles.

Now the group, called Black and Cute, has become much more, it’s a place where young women are connecting to their parents’ cultures and taking pride in their identity.
