Attorney Ben Crump, students respond to Florida rejecting AP African American studies course
Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, students and other community members on Wednesday responded to the administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blocking the introduction of a new Advanced Placement course for high school students that focuses on African American studies. DeSantis on Monday defended his decision to block the course, saying the course’s inclusion of lessons on Black queer theory and the prison abolition movement didn’t meet the state’s standards.
