Annual Sardine Run takes place in KZN South Coast
Every year millions of Sardines follow the cold water off South Africa’s Eastern coastline through underwater migration known as the Sardine Run.
Fish normally migrate from the Eastern Cape waters moving north to the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The sardine run is a major drawcard for tourism in the area and is considered a calendar highlight. It is a significant boost to the local economy, often catching the silvery delicacies that take a lot of patience with fishermen still at the mercy of the sea.
