African American Dance Company at Indiana University

Founded in 1974, the African American Dance Company is part of Indiana University’s African American Arts Institute—the nation’s first and only credit-bearing university program dedicated to the performance and promotion of Black music and dance.

The African American Dance Company shares movement traditions and diverse dance forms of the African diaspora and African American culture. The company’s repertoire includes African dance styles, contemporary, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and various cultural forms.
