‘Unstable’: Minority government ‘not a situation’ major parties want

University of Tasmania Associate Professor Kate Crowley says a minority government is “not a situation” a major party wants to find itself in ahead of the Tasmanian state election because it is “unstable”.

The Tasmanian state election will be held on March 23.

“It’s not a situation a major party wants to find itself in – minority government – absolutely not at all,” Ms Crowley told Sky News Australia.

“However, the most unstable thing you could do is not have an arrangement for being able to get your legislation through Parliament and to be able to work in a stable manner towards the next election in implementing your agenda.

“At the end of the day … you have to have some arrangement in place for it to work.”
