‘Keep politics off the field’: Sky News host blasts Usman Khawaja for support of Palestine

Sky News host James Morrow has blasted Test opener Usman Khawaja for showing his support for Palestine during Australia’s Test against Pakistan.

Khawaja wore shoes sporting the slogans “Freedom is a human right” and “All lives are equal” at the Australia team’s main training session on Tuesday.

The cricketer was banned from wearing the shoes during the team’s Test against Pakistan.

He hit back at the ban through social media on Wednesday afternoon.

“Khawaja has wound up instead wearing a black armband allowed to show his quote-unquote ‘solidarity’ with the Palestinians,” Mr Morrow said.

“But if all lives were equal maybe he’d have something to say about the innocents killed by Hamas too?

“Perhaps the rule should be that everyone should play as a team and keep politics well off the field.

“But be free to post to their content as individuals.”
