Founder of National African American Gun Association Discusses Red Flag Laws
Phil Smith, the head of the National African American Gun Association, talks with theGrio about the rash of mass shootings and his organization’s stance on efforts towards gun control. Smith explains his angst with the call for Red Flag laws and how they are an impediment to Black people. Smith defines Red Flag laws stating, “It means that if someone is a danger to himself or to society law enforcement can come in and take his or her guns…oftentimes in the Black community those laws are weaponized against Black men and women to take their guns for no reason.”
