Historic Black-Owned Farm Fights To Save Their Land



Located south of Austin, the Alexander Farm is one of the few remaining Black-owned farms in Texas, founded in 1847 by the then-enslaved and renowned race horse trainer, Daniel Alexander. After 176 years, the farm is still owned and operated by Alexander’s descendants, who have fought to protect the land from ongoing encroachment by developers and the state government.
