South African elected to serve on International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea



South Africa’s candidate has been elected to serve a 9-year term on the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Advocate Thembile Joyini was nominated by the South African Cabinet to serve as a Judge on the tribunal which is based in Hamburg, Germany – an independent judicial body established by the Third United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea to adjudicate disputes arising out of the interpretation and application of the convention.
