Black Wall Street was a thriving African American community in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the early 20th century. It was known for its prosperous Black-owned businesses, successful entrepreneurs, and thriving cultural scene, making it one of the wealthiest Black communities in America at the time. However, it was tragically destroyed in a 1921 race riot, leaving many dead and the community in ruins. Despite its tragic end, Black Wall Street remains a symbol of African American resilience and the power of community.
