Why don’t black people own anything? In 1866 just one year out of chattel slavery black people owned less than 1% of all the wealth in America. Now the year is 2015 and we still on less than 1% of all the wealth in America. Thats 150 years and we have not been able to make one ounce of progress economically. Even with all our celebrities and so called icons we are still running in place and going nowhere. Most people like to blame the lack of black advancement on the lack of education. Well that can’t be true because black in america have set the record for the fastest group in history to educate themselves. Following slavery between the years of 1866 and 1896 the black illiteracy rate decreased by more than 50%. What has happened to blacks in america. Why is it that black people as a whole just can’t make them selves as a group financially self sufficient.
