African American Legacy committee at Historic Rosedale Plantation aims to expand representation

The African American Legacy committee at the Historic Rosedale Plantation was created just last year. Its mission is to expand equitable representation of African Americans, both free and enslaved, who lived and worked on the property. With members that span the entire county, the Smith family traced its roots to the old house on North Tryon Street.
