Bakari Kitwana is a contributor to the newly released anthology 400 Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619-2019, edited by Dr. Ibram Kendi and Dr. Keisha Blain. In this video, he discusses his essay, “The Convergence of Civil Rights/ Black Power and Hip-Hop 1984-1989,” which documents the evolution of Black political thought from the Baby Boom generation to the Hip-Hop generation.
