Assam Govt identifies Six Religious Minorities, Why CM Biswa Is Issuing Minority Certificates?

The Assam government will now issue minority certificates to people from six religious minorities in the state. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, it was decided that Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and Parsis will get minority certificates so that they can avail benefits of government schemes. However, the move has met with political opposition with Congress accusing the BJP government of double standards when it comes to the treatment of Muslims.
