Black News Canada | Calgary Police Unwarranted Detainment of 12 Yr Old Kobe Amadi
CPS Members detained Kobe Amadi on April 17th, 2021, on playground. Kobe was detained under suspicion of theft but released after cps determined he was not involved. “He just kind of kicked my leg and pushed me to the ground and took me to the car from there” said Amadi.
Kobe is feeling better now, but experienced post traumatic disorder after the event and is now fearful of police. “I feel like our black community is really suffering from police. They’re suppose to treat us equal, whatever colour..I feel like for black youth, it’s like the police consider then criminals” said Kobe’s mother.
After meeting with police officials, the family will request police bodycam video and file an official complaint. Restraining officer Neufeld told police commission members he felt the force was ‘quite reasonable’
