Talk Africa: African arts, culture and heritage
“Arts, Culture & Heritage…as levers for building Africa”; is the main theme at the on-going 34th African Union Summit being held virtually this year.
The theme captures the AU’s aspirations of having art, culture and heritage play a key role in promoting Pan-African consciousness, socio-economic development and integration as described in the continent’s master plan; Agenda 2063. However, societies across the world are rapidly globalising. Meanwhile, various forms of African cultural expression are also yet to be mainstreamed despite the massive socio-economic potential as seen in other parts of the world. So what plans does the AU have to make this year’s theme a success?
