In a New Year’s meeting with a number of cultural figures, President Moon Jae-in vowed to ensure cultural freedom.
The president referred to the previous Park Geun-hye administration’s infamous blacklist of cultural figures who were critical of the then-government,โฆ and promised to prevent such incidents from happening again.
The Korean leader also vowed efforts to improve the welfare of those in the cultural sector.
He also praised recent accomplishments in the nation’s entertainment front, including โParasite” winning the first Golden Globe in Korea’s cinema history, as well as the growing global popularity of K-pop band BTS.
