Taliban celebrates victory as last US troops leave Afghanistan
Taliban fighters fired their guns into the air in celebration in Kabul as the United States completed the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan.
The end to the longest war in US history came nearly 20 years after it invaded the country following the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, DC.
While the Taliban is celebrating what it calls ‘full independence’, there are questions about what Afghanistan will look like under its planned caretaker government.
